FLOE Oak lamp

The FLOE lamp is meticulously designed and handcrafted in Australia, drawing inspiration from key elements of the Japandi design style. The challenge of seamlessly combining functionality with visual appeal inspired the creation of a piece that is both practical and striking. Furthermore, a commitment to sustainability guided the exploration of eco-friendly materials, resulting in a lamp that is not only innovative but also environmentally responsible.

Materials:
Timber
The base of the lamp is hand turned on a lathe to create the hemisphere shape, solid hardwood is used for all parts. The timber species include; Walnut, Oak and blackwood.

Walnut: Heartwood varies from grey-brown to chocolate with the sapwood grey-white. Grain varies from plain to highly figured. The wood is moderately heavy, hard and strong and has good shock resistant properties.

Oak: White oak is a hardwood with a light to dark brown heartwood and light-colored sapwood. It has a medium to coarse texture and a mostly straight grain.

Blackwood: The heartwood is black with some streaking at times. Grain can sometimes be interlocked but it has a fine texture.

PLA is a plastic made from renewable biomass. PLA's unique properties allow is to be used in the 3D printing process. The Plastic is printed layer by layer, building up to create a intricate yet strong shade. The plastic is eco friendly.
